Door Schedule

May 1, 2008

The door schedule is set up to insert the information of each door that you have selected to be “on schedule” in the master file.

*THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN EDIT A DOOR SCHEDULE IS BY CHANGING THE INFORMATION IN EACH INDIVIDUAL DOOR, NOT THROUGH THE SPREADSHEET.

·         The door schedule is premade on the VectorWorks Standards Sheet A601.

·         Import your masterfile into the “master” design layer.

·         Double click on the schedule already in the design layer, click the down arrow button, and select “recalculate” (the first option).  This should add all the doors selected to be on the schedule in the masterfile.

·         If the numbers are not in numerical order, click on one of the door numbers and you should see the buttons in the top left corner highlight.  Click and drag the ascending button and drop it in the door number column.

Entering Information:

·         Double click on the door and door settings will pop up

·         Click the data tab

·         Check “on schedule”

·         Put the door number in the ID Label box

·         Bubble shape – “Round”

·         Bubble size – 5/16”

·         ID Class – Anno-Iden (this allows you to turn off the tags without turning off the door itself)

·         Check “Keep ID Horizontal”

·         Schedule Info. – Fill in the following fields

5. Head Detail

6. Jamb Detail

14. Door Fire Rating

15. Notes

16. Door Material

19. Frame Type

20. Frame Material

24. User Field 1 = Door Type

25. User Field 2 = Glazing

26. User Field 3 = Hardware

o    The door size will automatically be entered based on the info used when creating the door.

*Note: An easy way to copy the same door info for one door to another is with the “Eye dropper” tool.  This will however map the same door number so you will have to change them back, but it’s easier than typing all the information again.

·         View, create viewport, (or right click in the viewport tab, new)

o    Name the viewport – “acad import”, “master”, etc.

o    Create on new design layer

§  As a standard, name the design layers as follows for each type of reference:

·         acad import for any existing autocad file needed to design a new building

·         master for any masterfile being referenced into individual sheets (A101, A102, etc.)

o    Select the source – choose file to import (Select “path relative to current document” then OK

o    Click on the layers tab and choose layers you want to show

o    Hit ok

·         If you need to update the reference go to the last tab of the navigation toolbar (where you see your classes, design layers, and sheet layers) and if the reference appears red it needs to be updated.  Right click and hit update.

·         Note: When importing always open a new document (YWA template) and import into that file.  It will then be referenced into other drawings, but this way it won’t bring in all the classes.

·         To import: File, import, import dxf/dwg, choose file, ok

o    Note: sometimes dimensions don’t come in cleanly.  The tic marks appear as very long diagonal lines.  Change the design layer scale (right click on layer, edit) to an architecture scale such as 1/8”=1’-0”.  It most likely is in something like 1:2000, which is causing the dimensions to appear that way.

·         Open VectorWorks. File, New, Use Document Template, YWA New Drawing

Inserting Title Block:

·         Go to the sheet layer tab, right click, edit

·         Use 300 dpi, rename sheet if desired, then click page setup

·         Choose one printer page, then click on printer setup.  Choose printer and paper.

o    Adobe PDF – 22×34 or 30×42, scale 100%

o    HP LJ M5035 – 11×17, scale 50% for 22×34, 36% for 30×42

·         Then go to file, document settings, document setup

o    Drawing Border

§  ASME D paper for 22×34

§  US ARCH F paper for 30×42

o    Title Block

§  Titleblock 22×34 (YWA titleblocks.vwx)

§  Titleblock 30×42 (YWA titleblocks.vwx)

§  Note: they’re the ones with the cyan x’s

o    Check “To create a border now on layer”

§  Choose sheet layer

o    OK

·         In object info click on border settings and change “inside dimensions” to “outside dimensions”.  OK

·         Towards end of object info. Click hide border.
